Philadelphia's Rail Park offers a new use for a piece of the city's rail landscape
A short visit can focus on the meeting of planting, old infrastructure and neighborhood views, with accessible entrances listed on Noble Street.

A reused rail corridor changes the way a city can be seen. Philadelphia's Rail Park brings planting, seating and neighborhood views into a place whose earlier purpose was movement of a very different kind.
The park's current information lists free daily access from 7 a.m.–10 p.m. Its access page identifies accessible entrances at Broad and Noble and at Twelfth and Noble. It specifically notes that Thirteenth and Noble is not an accessible entry. A separate stair entrance is on Callowhill Street between Eleventh and Twelfth Streets.

Use the current visitor map to plan around the open park, keeping the larger Rail Park vision distinct from sections available today. Choose an entrance that suits your party and review notices before travelling. A mapped corridor or future proposal should not be treated as a continuous public walking route.
Once there, take time to notice how new uses sit against the surrounding buildings and older structures. Planting and seating can invite a pause where rail operations once set the pace. The outing does not have to be long to raise an interesting question: what does a city gain when a piece of infrastructure becomes a shared place to spend time?
